Cutest Lampshade!

Kelly over at the blog "(un)deniably domestic"  has crocheted the cutest lampshade out of rosettes.  I love this, want to make one for the guest room.  Love how she added the yellow frills around the bottom.

Colorado Bluebird

Mr. Outdoors and I are in Colorado enjoying this beautiful sunshine!  Bluebird on our fence yesterday, hope he chooses one of our birdhouses to occupy this summer.  We sat out on the back patio reading and sewing yesterday and we both got sunburnt, I have to say that sunshine felt wonderful!  Enjoyed a fire and cooking hot dogs outside, makes me long for camping!  I am working away on those embroidery blocks of Grandmothers....3 more to go and I can start putting them all together.  Happy Tuesday!

WIP (work in progress)

Happy St. Patty's Day!  This quilt is one of my WIP's I truly would love to get finished this year.  It is
a chore to appliqué the vines , birds and fruit on the blocks after they are all sewn together.  You wind up with a lap full of quilt trying to do the tiny appliqué stitches.  I really like the beauty of the quilt and my houses are all done and top is put together just need to finish the appliqué.  I think this will be a fun one to quilt!  This is the winter that just won't end, we had 24degrees last night.  They promise 65 degrees today so fingers crossed here.  Our Family is doing a 5k in May so Mr. Outdoors and I have been getting up to speed on the treadmill.  Always look forward to that time with our kids and grandkids.  Enjoy your Monday.............

Coffee and Eagles....

 Anyone!    Ha love this!
This is such perfect picture!  Kudos to pinterest for sharing .  Tis a sunny Saturday for us, going to be 70 degrees today with a chance of showers tonight.  I am still working in my flower beds, the spring flowers are emerging and so lovely to see all the green!  I have "vinca" running the full length of the east yard under the trees, there is no way on Gods earth to rake the leaves out of it.  Tough as nails and threatens to pull your back out just trying to rake!  Guess I will give the leaf blower a spin and see what it can do to alleviate the problem.  I have two flower carts that are in need of a paint job and will be tending to that today or tomorrow if the weather holds.  Meantime a chicken noodle casserole is on the menu today, so will make a double recipe and freeze one for later, love those for "don't feel like cooking today" times..ha!  Wishing a sunny Saturday for all your dreams and wishes......enjoy!

Grandmothers embroidery....

My Grandmother started these embroidery quilt blocks in the 70's. She passed away in 1977 and I have been trying to finish her beautiful work ever since.( all that remains are the outer edges)  My sis gave me the vintage fabric to border the blocks with and I got that all sewn on today.  Hopefully this will inspire me to finish the embroidery and put this quilt together.  I think it will be so sweet and Grandma's stitches are precious.

Beautiful Lynx

Beautiful day yesterday and a repeat for today...75 degrees in Kansas!  Worked in some of my flower beds yesterday and got a lot accomplished.  The lilies and live forever are poking their heads out and so nice to see GREEN!  Have to share this beautiful lynx picture from" Box canyon blog".  I have never seen a lynx and never realized they have such long legs and big feet (presumably for trekking in the snow).  Isn't he/she beautiful!  Hope your Monday is marvelous.......

Canning....

We were running low on some of our canned goods so I have been canning of late.  Pinto beans, black-eyed peas, butter beans and chille.  It is a labor of love for me, I enjoy doing it and so much better health wise for us....we know exactly what we are eating.  As a young girl I helped my Grandmother can everything from their garden and make jams and jellies.  Grandma had shelves in one of the spare bedrooms that was floor to ceiling filled with all that canned goodness. It was a treat for us as kids to go in and pick what vegetables or jams we wanted to eat that day.  She had her own little supermarket.  We have had a snowy day today, they say tomorrow will be 60 degrees...can't wait!  Hope your Saturday is great...

Wash tubs and quilts

A new take on an old pattern, quilt links from double wedding ring fame.  How ingenious is this? Love it!
If you needed a quilt in a hurry this is a grand idea!  If the blocks were 12" you would have a 4' by 4' in no time....quilt in a day for sure!  Too cute!       Love this idea for a corner spot in the yard.  I have two old wash tubs in dire need of fixing up, this would be so pretty.  Hopefully this will inspire me to get it done!   Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday....enjoy it!

Melting snow.....

The snow we had a couple days ago should melt off today, what a pretty snow it was.  Chance of rain later today and then we are on our way to the 40's and 50's....yay!  The barn cats are cozy warm and always ready to eat!  Love this poppy painting!  Happy Wednesday!

Quilt and a great idea!

I have been lending a hand to my sis on quilting this sweet little quilt for the MCC fund raiser auction coming up in April.  It is done except for the binding and delivery.  I love this magnetic idea for keeping track of scissors!  The time I spent searching for just the "right" scissors was unbelievable.  The kitchen stores have the magnetic strips for a pretty hefty price but the tool stores have them so much cheaper.  Hubby got mine at Harbor Freight and saved a bunch.  We had the biggest snow yesterday, haven't been out to measure it yet (-15 wind chill), we do have sunshine this morning so that is a plus.......endless winter-----GO AWAY!!!!  Oscars were a treat last night, Lupitas gown was adorable!  Keep warm!
