Irish chain piecing

Perfect day for piecing this Irish chain quilt and a cup of tea.  Pretty much rained here all day, very Thankful for that as we surely need the rain.  Tomorrow promises to be a sunny and warm day and boy oh boy are we ready for some sunshine!  Our family is coming out for brunch on Sunday so tomorrow will be house cleaning day and doing some baking.  I started this irish chain a few days ago and am thinking about doing it in "quilt as you go".  I have so many quilt tops ready to be quilted and not enough hours in the day to do them all.  Quilt in a day would enable this one to be done in no time.  We'll see..........

Bed spring crafts

At first I was really put off with the idea of using old bed springs for crafts.  First saw these a year ago at a barn sale my sisters and I went to.  I believe they are growing on me....cute Christmas tree idea, couldn't you see these at each place setting on your Christmas table?  Love the candle holders using jelly jars for the tea lights.  Some people have the gift to dream up these cute ideas!  There are lots of ideas out there, these are but two of my favorites.

Mountains and eagles.

Mr. Outdoors and I have been playing around in Colorado for the last week.  Doing some trout fishing and sightseeing and just relaxing at our place out there.  The mountains still have lots of snow and in fact it snowed 3 days while we were there.  The sun comes out and melts it all, @ elevation 7700' the snow doesn't last long.  The eagles were soaring above us while fishing one day...simple beautiful!  There had to be 8 or 10 of them....what a sight.  Back at the farm now so there is lots to do, mowing, thinking about planting the garden if it ever warms up enough to do that and field spraying and planting to be done.  We are enjoying our canned stew and had it for our lunch yesterday...such good flavor.  So nice to have it on hand on days when I really don't feel like cooking.......we really don't eat out very often...so this is my version of "fast food"...ha!  Terrific Tuesday!  Enjoy

Skiing the continental divide

Mr. Outdoors skied the continental divide yesterday...almost 12,000feet above sea level and beauty I cannot begin to describe.  We have been married almost 48 years and in all of those years Colorado calls our name almost every day.  I am content to sit in the lodge and do my knitting and watch all the flurry of activity on the slopes.  No more skiing for me...just doesn't work out for me anymore, that being said Mr. Outdoors loves it and I love that he does.  Big snow in Colorado today, always makes me so Thankful for our warm and cozy home.  We are ready for spring to be here and do some trout fishing..terrific Tuesday!

Collector of many" things"

Two new bowls courtesy of my sisters, the small blue one and the green on the left, aren't they pretty.  I am still missing the red one from the set of three I have, forever on the lookout for that red one! The other bowl my sis saw it and said it should be added to my collection of green bowls...I love them all!

Westmoreland

This is a piece of Westmoreland glass my eldest sister gave me for my birthday last year..to say I love it is an understatement.  The doily it is sitting on was crocheted by my baby sister...I love it too. How lucky I am!  Thankful Thursday......

Leftovers done right!

When piecing our quilts we always have leftovers, right?  What a beautiful way to use those leftovers!  I just love this idea, what a sweet spot to rest your weary head....goodnight.

Nesting.....

Perfect move around hen house for............

Flamingoes and flowers!

I am over the moon and back with this flamingo quilt......how cute is this?!  The quilting has given it such personalty and style!  The black and white border just sets it off perfect. When I went to the web site it told me "URL" not found, but the pattern can be figured out.
Beautiful blue poppy and pink peony...do they get any prettier?  I love the colors..one so vivid and bright the other soft and silky.  Wouldn't we all love a summer escape to relax in with the wisteria keeping us cool!

Blue/white checkered quilt.

I am entranced with this blue and white bedroom, especially the checkered quilt. The toile headboard and pillows just sets the whole thing off and softens all the colors.  Note the grey/blue night stand...love this sweet bedroom.  And while we're on the subject of blue and white how about these neat pillows? A great idea for hubby's old shirts and so easy to launder...I like these so much.

Squirrels like chocolate too!

This guy wanted a chocolate Easter egg too!  How cute is that? Tenacious Tuesday!

Beautiful gate

Love this antique iron headboard used as a gate.  We have an old iron headboard or two around the farm here.  Love the green grass in this picture also...we are so ready for spring to come and stay, very elusive this year...comes and goes!
