Family Time

Celebrating my Aunt Violet's 88th birthday today. My Mothers youngest sister, still lives by herself in her home, remarkable memory and such an inspiration to all of us.  I asked her what kind of birthday cake she would like and she told me carrot cake.  So carrot cake it is, we have a little ninja in our family that doesn't like nuts, so she has her own nut less cake...LOL.  It will be a covered dish lunch at Aunt Vi's home with everyone contributing their yummy goodness to the meal.  So great to get the family together to celebrate this special lady's day.  We have a glorious sunny Sunday, hope you do too........

Sherlock and coffee.....

My sisters Sherlock crochet...isn't she talented!  Love his scarf and tied the exact same way as Sherlock's.  Don't we love our morning coffee?  I live for my morning coffee, only one cup a day for me so I do enjoy that cup!  In my younger working years I drank coffee all day long.....things change as we age don't they?  Life adjustments are made to accommodate being 65 and I am Thankful for still being able to have that one cup of coffee a day......We have winds up to 50 mph today, it was 59 degrees when we got up this morning and 4 hours later it is 37 degrees.....rain/snow mix expected today.  Keep warm and safe....Thankful Thursday!

Wednesday's Words

Well the snow has all melted and we have been having some wonderfully warm and sunny days!  I have been helping my sister hand quilt a quilt she has made to benefit the MCC auction that is held every April.  We should have said quilt completed in one more full day of quilting and pictures will follow.  I have been thinking and planning on our garden this year.....# 1 is to not plant so many tomatoes...lol.  I still have close to 20 quarts left from 2013's canning and I am always Thankful for the overflow from one year to the next.....2014's planting will be less than 50 plants for sure.  I really enjoy planting different varieties of peppers and will try some new ones this year.  Valentine's day came with Mr. Outdoors taking me to lunch at the casino...they have a wonderful buffet with roasted turkey and dressing I love.  The next day was our nephews birthday so we went out to a steak house with him and his family, followed by cake and ice cream at his parents home.  I am about to finish my sweater i have been knitting on for a month now and it's good the end is in sight for I
am ready for a new project.  Enjoy this wonderful Wednesday......Just a small portion of 2013's tomato crop....

Pizza day

The pizza turned out good...on a 1 to 10 scale I would give it a 5.  Not a light or even crispy crust but still ok.  I added garlic and italian seasoning to the dough before I rolled it out.  Mr. Outdoors liked it and that's what matters.

Snow and Pizza

A thaw is on the way, they say by Friday we will have 58 degrees...yay!  I have to say we are ready for it, we both enjoy being outdoors and keeping busy.  This winter especially, I have felt so cooped up....we usually don't have bitter cold winters like we have had this year and are able to go about our business thru the winter months.  I found an interesting recipe for pizza crust I am trying today, flour and greek yogurt.  I will add some garlic ground finely and italian seasoning to ours....
Mr. Outdoors cleaning our drive, total of 7 inches of snow in the last week....come on spring!  Happy Tuesday!

Snow Day....

Heavy snow here yesterday, the farm got around 5 inches.  Very cold this morning ( 3 degrees ) and looks like we are in for several days of this bitterness.

Mr. Outdoors shoveled the walks and I fed the birds, just a great day for staying inside and crocheting!  Granddaughter is in Kansas City and they got 11 inches of snow....Thankfully she had a snow day yesterday. This storm is moving east today so hopefully it won't dump too much on those folks.  Keep warm.......

Super Bowl

Super Bowl Sunday.....we are headed to son Mark's house for supper and the game.  Lasagna, salad and garlic bread they are cooking and Mr. Outdoors and I are making lemon meringue, key lime pies and chocolate chip  cream cheese dip served with teddy grahams.  Looking forward to family time and a good football game!  Winter has returned and our forecast looks sooo bitterly cold for the next week.....  On my needles are french press slippers, made of wool and felted in the washing machine after they are knit. Can't wait to see the outcome.....keep warm and cozy.
