Lamps and Canisters.......

I found these beautiful carnival glass look alike lamps @ The Boomerang re-sale shop in Gunnison, Colorado.  They are so me!  I have put them in the master bedroom in our Colorado house and other than needing to replace the switches they are perfect!  My sister found a canister set for me that matches my dishes...aren't they cute...she is the best shopper and finds great bargains for all of us.  This set was

a whopping $8.00...see what I mean.....she finds those bargains!

How do you?

So, how do you get it all wound up?  I mean saving those knitted/crocheted projects you have all done EXCEPT for weaving in all the loose yarn ends?  How do you hide away all the excess things sitting around that you put there to keep track of exactly where they are?  How do you make all this extra food cram into the fridge.....keep the bathroom sparkly clean when it was cleaned two days before all your Christmas guests arrive?  Christmas is at our house this year, keeps me from sleeping well at night....waking up @ 3am thinking.... did I remember to get that jalapeƱo jam for the cream cheese and crackers?  I mean it really is ridiculous......here is just a sampling of what is going on around my house. Homemade tamales, fudge and Merry and Bright!  Countdown is on!

Sunrise and such......

Beautiful Colorado sunrise....my pictures don't do it much justice.  Such a gift to see!  Driving thru western Kansas on our way to Colorado there is so much milo piled on the ground.  Makes me wonder what will they do with all of it?  Will it go to the feed lots for the cattle, will it rot like that?  I am crocheting scarfs for all the girlies in my world this year, love this lace yarn.  A mixture of mohair, silk, wool and acrylic....very fine and delicate and I might note very hard to unravel if you make a mistake.  Are you ready for Christmas?

6 in One and Snow!

What do you think about this dessert?  Cherry pie inside a chocolate cake, pumpkin pie inside a spice cake and apple pie inside a white cake.  Six confections rolled into one, instructions on vittlemonster.com......  Son #2 told me about this, would take some time but seems doable. Kinda of like the turducken only sweet..HA!  We've had our first snow of the season and it is truly weird......green leaves on the trees and snow!  I don't ever remember this happening...ever!  Happy Wednesday, I am finishing up a Christmas project today and ready to move onto another.......

Baked custard and WM........

We seem to have an overabundance of eggs and so baked egg custard was on the menu.  Such a great comfort food and so simple to make, since we are cutting carbs, no crust... as in pie.  I love everything about William Morris prints, do you?  Such a talent and I am mesmerized by all that he accomplished in his lifetime.  We are having beautiful 60 and 70 degree days here in Kansas, that will be drastically changing day after tomorrow when the days high temp. will be 38 degrees....yikes!  Alaska is sending us a cold front that will last for several days/nights and wouldn't you know it the electric blanket is no where to be found.  We will be piling on the quilts for sure!  Have a great Sunday.....

Hello November!

I love November, it's my birthday month, Christmas is getting closer, winter is such a cozy time and even tho the days are shorter it seems I have more time for my sewing and reading.  A perfect time for making all those wonderful soup recipes I have been hoarding away and doing some baking of all things sweet and gooey!  All of the outdoor plants have been brought in for the winter and I have left potted one geranium and the big elephant ear which have taken up residence in the south windows of the dinning room.  We'll see how that goes.....Happy November!

It's all good!

Colorado sunrise heading back to Kansas, new table all polished up and last but not least arrived back at the farm to find this beautiful rose waiting for us in the rose bed.  Hopefully not the last rose of summer but if it is that's ok, it's a beauty!

A couple of Bucks....

Saw these two guys on our way fishing today.  It seems impossible we are still able to fish @10,000" in late October.  Colorado is having a late winter for sure.....some Aspens are still perfectly beautiful! The sweet table I found at a 2nd hand store for $26.00, my find of the week for sure.  Love a bargain...

Christmas Ideas.........

Do you do Pinterest?  I do, confess I probably spend too much time gathering ideas, recipes, decorating ect.  Christmas has begun creeping into my mind and every year I do a different ornament for Family and Friends as gifts.  These are but a few I am liking and they are simple to make and when you have a lot to make simple is GOOD! The crochet lampshade's not for Christmas, just one I will make for a bedroom lamp I have.  Magical Monday!

October in the Mountains.....

Mountain tops are gathering some snow and the Aspens are beautiful this year.  Mr. Outdoors and I have been fishing and enjoying this mountain air.  Lots of elk hunters in the mountains, love the tents with wood stoves in them, you would need the warmth as it is in the 20's and 30's at night at 10,000' elevation.  What a fun way to camp and enjoy the beautiful mountains.
