Garden bounty.
We are enjoying our tomatoes, peppers and onions from the garden. Toss with this tasty rice vinegar, some evoo and spices.....great on wheat crackers. Still canning, mostly salsa and made blueberry jam today.
It's a dogs life!
We happened upon this while traveling...who is the luckiest? Man or dog? Looks like both to me. How cute!

Birthday time!
We went to our favorite camping in Colorado spot for Mr. Outdoors 68th birthday. It is a real test of my baking skills to make him a dark chocolate cake @ 11,000 feet. It turned out good and only had to make a few minor adjustments. We did a lot of eating and catching trout...my my so tasty! We explored a new mountain range and found the biggest aspens we have ever seen. There were lots of wild blueberry bushes and other berries unfamiliar to me. I really need to familiarize myself with what berries to eat and what ones not to eat. The castle mountains were beautiful and they really do look like a huge castle.

Up to our ears in Tomatoes!
We are deep into the tomato canning mode. Back on our farm in Kansas and lots of rain rain rain! The tomato plants are well over 6 feet tall ( I need to get pictures) and producing lots of fruit. They are medium in size this year, just perfect for canning. Salsa and stewing tomatoes are canned about every other day. The pepper plants are doing well also and we have been freezing them. I would like to try pickling some peppers and some jalapeƱo jam. Always Thankful for our garden bounty and this wonderful rain! Thankful Tuesday!

Sisters Week 2013
It's sisters week at our house in Colorado. My two sisters come out and spend a week with me and we do crafts, sewing and shopping and lots of sight seeing. We are lucky this year to also have our niece with us and she spreads a lot of fun and joy to our visit. We traveled over the Black Canyon of the Gunnison yesterday and the following are a few of our pictures. We saw a bear a few miles outside of Crawford, Co. it was running across the road in front of our car...so great to get to see that! And that was a big bear!
Baby pinecones are blue...such a pretty color.
Choke cherries...so sweet and good!
